Yesterday I was waiting on my friend’s to come pick me up for a get together. A time to reconnect. A weekly time of prayer and laughter. Both are vital in life.
While I was in my rocking chair in the front yard, cars passing by, just taking a moment, without a phone, without music, without wearing my mom hat, I looked up. The wind was blowing and the sun was peeking through the leaves. Great yard? No. But I caught a glimpse of the cross.
This is the cross my husband made about 20 years ago. It used to sit on an empty lot at our old property. One time he told the story of a gentleman who walked up, bowed down, and we could only guess, lifted up a prayer.
I have a saying in life – “The foot of the cross is level ground.” Why? All have sinned. We all come to Jesus the same way. We all NEED Jesus. And the beautiful thing? A broken and contrite heart he will not despise.
That cross. I remembered that it was the beginning of Passover and actally as I type this, it is Maundy Thursday. A night to remember. A night of communion. A night of warning. A night of encouragement. A night of prayer. A night of surrender. A night of betrayal. A night of prophecy fulfilled.
While I waited for my sister’s in Christ to pick me up, I worshipped as the sun peeked through the trees. Passover. The night when God delivered his people from the Egyptian rule. A night where they were required to place the blood of a lamb on their door as the Destroyer came through the city, but passed over every house that had the blood of the lamb on the doorpost. A night of victory.
Fast forward.
Consider Jesus sitting with his disciples, knowing what he would soon endure, spent his last moments before the cross pouring into the ones who would soon carry his message to the world. You can read about this in John chapter 12 through 21.
Jesus became our Passover Lamb. Slain from the foundation of the world. Now, the blood of Jesus (in the spiritual realm), when we place our faith in him, covers the “door” of our hearts, making us spritually alive and protected from the evil one. Why? Because we trust him, the only way. Sins forgiven. Washed white as snow.
There’s so much to say but the Word is full of proof of the love of God. 1 Corinthians 5:7b- “For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.”
He did it for us. Will you accept his love?
I want you to take only five minutes and watch this video.
For the one who is already a believer, I hear that song “What are We Waiting For?” Time’s running out. He’s coming back. Let’s be the ambassadors he’s called us to be. Fill our mouth, Lord. Help us speak on your behalf, filled with love and truth. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Draw near to God and he WILL draw near to you.
With all love, Kathleen
Isaiah 53:5-8
New King James Version
5
But He was wounded[a] for our transgressions,
He was [b]bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes[c] we are healed.
6
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord [d]has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7
He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
8
He was taken from [e]prison and from judgment,
And who will declare His generation?
For He was cut off from the land of the living;
For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.
