Our Father is so near and wants to see us grow in our faith in 2022. Along with the new goals he has set before us, He wants to see us, his children, express our trust in him by doing the things he has already told us to do. Let’s look at one.
Prophesy. Call those things that are naught as though they were. Our words have the power of life and death. (Proverbs 18:21) Because we are children of God, we are called to speak LIFE. We are to speak as God speaks. Even over ourselves.
In Romans 4:17b, Paul, in the middle of establishing a foundation of truth that we, just as Abraham, become heirs through faith and not through the law, gives us a hidden key of revelation into how God operates. Almost as an interruption to the point he is making Paul says, “God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;“. (NKJV)
The New Living Translation says it this way, “This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.”
God sees the “dead” and gives life. God sees the “nothing” and makes something out of it.
Lastly, check out the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition, “As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.“
“Okay, that’s God,” you say. “How do we do that?”
We do as God does. We speak life. We prophesy the Word of God over our situtaion. If you are a born again believer, then the Holy Spirit lives in you and you can trust him to show you how to pray. (If you’re not yet but want to be, watch this: First Things First.). To pray over things the “dead things” in your life. Through faith, we speak to things in our lives that need to change and ask Holy Spirit for his insight, then allow him to pray through us.
Oftentimes, there are phrases or words I would have never thought to say because they are coming from the Lord’s heart. He is showing me what to pray. And those words, my friends, are like arrows. They hit the target. And that is how we call those things that are naught as though they were. Say it and believe it.
A simple way to begin is to start thanking Jesus for the thing that has not yet come to pass. i.e. “Thank you, Jesus, that by your stripes I am healed.” “Thank you, Jesus, that my child loves you with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.” “Thank you, Jesus, that I have all I need and my cup overflows.” By doing these things, you are agreeing with the will of the Father over your life and he is pleased. He LOVES your faith.
You say, “I don’t know. I don’t know if I can do that. I don’t have much faith.”
Well, let me show you one thing to encourage you, then I’m going to pray for you.
The other day I was reading in Luke 17. And I had a moment with the Lord. The passage read, “5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” 6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” (Luke 17:5-6 NKJV)
Jesus, what did you just say?? The disciples are saying, “Increase our faith.” And Jesus comes back with, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed… AND THEN HE SAYS YOU CAN DO WHAT DEFIES SCIENCE. You CAN see the impossible happen. I don’t know about you, but I have never seen a tree planted in the sea. All with the faith the size of a MUSTARD SEED. A mustard seed.
What I felt the Lord say to me was, “Kathleen, you don’t need an increase of faith. You need to use what you have already. Because with THAT…you can move mountains and defy science.” Whoa. Okay, Jesus. Yes sir. Use what I already have.
And you too. You have faith too. Or else you wouldn’t have read this far.
So, dear one. The “dead things” in your life, can you see them springing to life again? Can you see that broken relationship begin to twitch as the arrows of the Holy Spirit hit the target with LIFE, life and life. Those dead places, those dry places, those places that hurt too bad you don’t even want to talk about them. Yeah, those. LIFE. Life to those.
Get on your knees. Take a moment with your Father and ask forgiveness where you haven’t trusted him to heal you. Ask forgiveness for the times it’s been too hard to let him in. Let him heal you first and then, with the Holy Spirit, in love, take out your arrows of faith again and begin to target those things that are dead or even nonexistent and bring them to life. He’s a giving God and his plans for you are good.
Forget 2020. Forget 2021. Let’s move on to 2022 and see what he has in store. Prophesy. Begin to plant again with him in your garden. There are great treasures ahead.
Let’s pray –
Father, together, we commit our lives to you in whole. We say yes to you. Forgive us for forgetting you at times and we recommit our lives to you. We recommit to laying ourselves on the altar. We do want to be living sacrifice for you, holy and acceptabale. Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you will carry us along as we spend time with you in prayer. We partner with you to breathe life to the dead things in our situations and make something out of nothing! Thank you, Jesus. We will use the faith we have, even the size of a mustard seed and see the miracle! Teach us how to use your arrows of life to hit the target this year. We expect transformation in our lives and the lives around us. To the glory of your Name, Jesus! Amen, amen and amen.
