Have you ever been at a place in life where you thought you were going somewhere and you can’t seem to get there?
Have you recently been feeling the pressure of a world gone crazy? The constant bombardment of bad news in the media? The stress of knowing you are made for more but the finding continual distractions along your way when you determine to press in to the God Who made you?
Why is that? Why is it when you think you’re headed somewhere spiritually there seems to be an invisible wall you can’t get passed, even though you want to?
I want to breathe hope.
You are going somewhere. That’s why the enemy has cast confusion. You do have a destiny. That’s why he has made things cloudy. HOLY SPIRIT is our advocate. You will learn to decree and shift focus. All the side things – they are distrations. Distractions abounding.
QUESTION IS: WHERE ARE YOUR EYES? Where has your focus been lately? I ask myself the same. Have we been adoring Jesus? Have we been looking into his eyes? Or have we had our head in our hands, wondering when will this end? And when in the world is Jesus coming back anyway?!
In the middle of all the distractions and confusion, this morning the Holy Spirit woke me up with a song. Not a Christian song. A Byran Adams song. Yes. The one that was so popular at our middle school dances. The lyrics rang out in my spirit – “Look into my eyes, you will see, what you mean to me…”
I felt both the invitation and a stern redirection from the Lord saying to me, “This is the only way out. You’ll have to know my love. My eyes will tell the story.” Just browse through Song of Songs in The Passion Translation.
See, there’s an entire Psalm devoted to a solution. Psalm 121. New King James Version entitles the Psalm “God, the Help of Those Who Seek Him.”
Here it is.
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to [a]be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your [b]keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall [c]preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve[d] your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.”
See. The devil is a liar. He cannot stand to see God’s children walking in victory, renewed passion, destiny, grace. Why? Because all that is like ammo to the kingdom of darkness.
So, his goal? To get you (and me) to believe his lies. Whispers. Doubts. Deceit.
These things make our head hang low. Make our eyes look down. Looking at all the earthly things instead of heavenly things.
So how do we combat? How do we keep moving forward in our journey with God? Our purpose, our passion, our pursuit… remember, the one He placed within you? You remember. Even though sometimes you have tried to forget.
I encourage you today to command your eyes to look up. Take a break. A good long break from the things of this world.
And as your eyes are fixed above, declare with your mouth, outloud –
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.”
What did you just say? Where does your help come from?? Ah. The Lord. The Lord who made HEAVEN AND EARTH. That sounds like a very capable helper!!
Continue and make it personal –
He will not allow MY foot to be moved;
He who keeps ME will not slumber.
Keep going –
The Lord is MY keeper;
The Lord is MY shade at MY right hand.
The sun shall not strike ME by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve ME from all evil;
He shall preserve MY soul.
The Lord shall preserve MY going out and MY coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.”
Whoa doggie. That is a huge promise.
One last declaration. Psalm 3:3. Pray it outloud.
“But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.”
There it is. There is something to having our head lifted up. Looking up. It is sign of victory, shamelessness.
Today might be the day you need to repent. To change the way you’ve been thinking and come on back to the journey He’s called you to. I will repent alongside you. Your boots are right next to you. Put them on, strap them up and let’s get moving again.
Chin up, warrior. It’s time to fight. It’s time to pursue you’re calling. It’s time to step out of the shadows and come into his glorious light. You will get where He’s taking you. Just stop and look into his eyes. He will encourage you, reassure you and challenge you to trust him again.
But, first things first. If this all sounds great to you but you’ve never given you’re life to Jesus, then it’s just a good concept. The promises of God are for the children of God. See we all must pass from death to life and that happens when we fully surrender to Jesus. Become a child of God today and receive the exchange. His life for your sin. Really. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [a]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13. (NKJV).
Here’s the Bryan Adams song…minus the “I’d lie for you” lyric, they can be received as song from Jesus to you and from you to Jesus.
Be blessed and let’s stay close. It’s in closeness we can see his eyes.
